THE DESIGN

Some weeks ago I started implementing the website by taking the WordPress default and finding a simliar PHP theme to give the website a uniform look. I thought that a nice and simple basic white blue design would fit the website nicely and I made a start with the portal, the (wordpress) blog and the (PHPBB) forum.

But … after feedback of several people that I should consider to get a professional design for this website I wondered how to achieve this. As I stated in an earlier post , I am realy not much of a designer myself.

Luckily for me there are such things as ‘web site templates’ that one can buy for a small amount and can be freely used to implement and adjust. I got myself this nice design from 4Templates.com . The design comes with PSD, XHTML and CSS implementation. Having the PSD I should be able to create some headers and adjust the design a little bit.

Implementing the design in WordPress should not be such a problem because a wordpress theme is not a real complicated thing, however … I get real shivers if think about implementing it in PHPBB because that will truely be a hell of a job. All that PHPBB templates and CSS styles are realy giving me a headache.

THE STRUCTURE

The website will be structured in 5 main items :

HOME

This will be a portal page that will display the lastest info and added items.

The homepage will include blocks for latest game content, games, theme’s, teams
community posts etc. Purpose is to provide quick navigation for members to relevant
parts of the website.

CREATE

Here visitors can use the design tools to create game content and games.

If a visitor is a guest it will be possible to test-drive the game design tools and make a limited game that can be tested within the creation environment.

When a member has authenticated the create part of the website provides him in addition to the game development tools with workspace and team management tools as well.

Within the create part is will be possible to browse the public game content and authenticated members will be able to rate community game content.

PLAY

This will be the place to play games that were created by the community.

Games that are released by members will be presented in this part of the website. Authenticated will be able to rate the games. As game count en game theme’s grow, more and better search possibilities will be offered to the visitors.

COMMUNITY

The community part will be a forum where members can communicate with each other.
