This post is about the concept of the flash game ‘Space Core Defender’ that I will try to realize in the coming weeks. To make a game in Flash is a serious thing so I made 4 sketches how this game is gonna look like and how the game is going to be played.

You see 4 sketches that will display some game functionality.
1. Game play sketch
2. Weapon marker sketch
3. Powerup grapling sketch
4. Weapon type sktech
I will explain the different sketches one by one and hopefully create a clear picture of how the game will be like. To make a flash game is also about informing and explaining your viewers and hoping to make them enthusiastic so that they will play your game and tell others to do so as well.
1. Game play sketch

The sketch above shows the basic game play. The goal of the game is to defend your Space Core : the round thingy that you see in the center of the screen. There is a rounded overlay so you have a nice round playfield. Resolution will be 800×600.
While your Space Core is under attack by all kinds of hazards like asteroids , shooting alien space ships, strange alien ‘in space’ living creatures and maybe more … You have to defend it and take care that you do not loose too much lives.
The threats will come into screen from all sides of the playfield and you will have to place weapon markers in the playfield to activate your weapons. The threats come into 5 wave per level. As levels progressing the enemies come in bigger numbers be more malicious and move harder or faster.
1. Weapon marker sketch

To activate the weaponse you will set markers in the playfield by moving the weapon mouse pointer and and clicking with your mouse. When a marker is set the weapon will become active, rotate to the desired position and fires. After fireing the weapon will automaticly rotate to the next marker and repeat the process until no markers for that particular weapon type are left.
There will be different weapon types in the game that will have their own markers. There will be power ups that give you these weapons and provide yout weapons with ammo. In the higher levels even multiple weapons of the same or different kind can be installed around the core so you can handle markers at a faster pace.

Power-ups will drift through the playfield and there will be some grappling hook to get these and pull them into the Space Core. Power-ups will be weapons, ammo, shield/energy and specials.

This sketch shows some weapons that the game will support.
I hope this will gives an idea of how the game Space Core Defender will be like.
Next will be part III – First Blender Models
